What's the difference between "Notepad Binding", "Field Cover Binding", and
Notepad Binding (glued-top)is bound at the top with a glue substance that hardens and holds together the sheets and chipboard (cardboard) backing. Pads are less expensive and great for office use.
Field Cover Binding takes a glued-top notepad and adds a heavy cover sheet, extra stiff backing, and binding tape to secure them all together. The cover sheet helps keep pages clean and corners from curling. The binding tape keeps the backing attached for the life of the pad. As its name implies, these are great for use in the field.
Legal Pad Binding involves several binding steps on different equipment. The sheets are perforated, then stitched to an extra stiff chipboard backing, and finally a binding tape is applied. These pads stay together even when inserted into a pad folio or tossed about.
